Principal Investigators
Peter M. Steiner is an Assistant Professor of Quantitative Methods in the Department of Educational Psychology (University of Wisconsin-Madison) and is affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Training Program in the Education Sciences and the Center for Demography and Ecology at the UW–Madison. His research program focuses on methodological questions about causal inference with experimental and quasi-experimental designs, including propensity score matching designs, interrupted time series designs, and regression discontinuity designs.

Jee-Seon Kim is a Professor of Quantitative Methods in the Department of Educational Psychology and is affiliated with the Center for Health Enhancement Systems Studies, Interdisciplinary Training Program in the Education Sciences, and Interdisciplinary Research Training in Speech and Language Disorders at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research and teaching interests concern the development and application of quantitative methods in the social sciences, focusing on multilevel models and other latent variable models, methods for modeling change, learning, and human development using longitudinal data, and the implementation of randomized trials. Her current research attends to multiple imputation techniques and matching strategies for multilevel or clustered data.

Co-Investigator
Felix Thoemmes is a Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Development at Cornell University. His research area can be broadly described as causal inference for social science data, especially the use of propensity scores, and integrating approaches to causality from different traditions. He developed some preliminary methods to use propensity scores in multilevel models and the work on this project is a seamless continuation of his earlier efforts. He has applied propensity score methods to datasets that led to results published in journals such as Psychological Science, Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, and Multivariate Behavioral Research.
