About the Project
This project, funded by the Institute of Education Sciences (# R305D120005), seeks to develop and test within- and across-cluster matching strategies for causal inference with observational multilevel data in educational research. In using theoretical investigations, simulation studies, and within-study comparisons two main goals are pursued. First, the investigation of conditions under which within- and across-cluster matching strategies produce consistent estimates of average treatment effects. Second, the identification of matching strategies (i.e., within- and across-cluster matching) and analytic approaches (i.e., propensity score techniques) that work best in educational research practice.
